For the 2nd year in a row, S W \ T C H had the honor of working with one of the greatest American electronic music brands, Insomniac, to design the official magazine for their flagship event: EDC VEGAS. One of our design challenges was to evoke the feeling of this year's incredible mainstage design without giving anything away. The unveiling (and witnessing) of kineticCATHEDRAL is one of the highlights of attending EDC. It's possibly the most jaw-dropping stage in the world, year after year. So, we took inspiration from the idea of the transluscent crystals jutting out in various directions from the stage, and imagined them popping up in front of the magazine itself, and causing the typography (and sometimes the images) to be refracted insde them. The Insomniac cover was printed on special soft-touch stock, with spot varnish and embossing. Thanks to the whole editorial team at insomniac for another great collaboration.
